The guesthouse “Zur Buche” is located around 3 kilometers from the centre of the health resort with particularly good air Monschau. From our 3-star-guesthouse (DEHOGA-labelling from February 2011, renewal 2017) you can get to the Eifelsteig (2nd section of the line “Roetgen-Monschau”) in a distance of ca. 200 meters. The Eifelsteig belongs to the “10 Top-Trails of Germany”. A maximal hiking enjoyment in a varied countryside is combined with best hospitality.

Our house is located 2 km from the new RAVeL-Route (railway from Aachen to Luxemburg).

The Town of Monschau is the tourist destination number 1 in the Eifel.

The historical Old Town of Monschau invites with countless impressions, if museums like the Red House (house of a scarf manufacturer), Art- and Culture Centre Monschau in the former tax office of the town, the Brewery Museum, the Historical Mustard Mill in Monschau or the Printing House Museum in Imgenbroich or the historical castle (where annually the event “Monschau-Klassik” takes place) with the castle ruin “Haller”. You can get to the castle on foot or relaxed with the Sightseeing Train Monschau.

Guided tours through the town and High Fens can be booked at our house. You are accompanied by Bodo Friedrich.

Worth mentioning is the Christmas Market, which belongs to the most beautiful historical Christmas Markets in Germany. Visit the Christmas Market at one of the four Christmas weekends (we organize your transfer). Please note our special offers in the Christmas time.

The Summer Bob Run is located in the district Rohren. At the same place you can find the ski lifts in winter.

The High Fens: It is one of the biggest nature reserves in Germany. The High Fens consists almost exclusively of heavy wooded and deep moorland and deciduous forests. Here you encounter a varied animal kingdom with some rare species. In the High Fens is a multitude of signposted paths through the woods that run partly over the typical wooden foot bridges. The entry to the High Venn is located ca. 300 meters from our house.

The Harvest Festival in Mützenich (first weekend of October) is known already for a long time and meanwhile it attracts even nationwide interest (generally it attracts ca. 6000 visitors. The highest elevation in Mützenich is the “Stehling” (659 meters above sea level). Visit also –in direct neighborhood- Kaiser Karls Bettstatt (a legend after Kaiser Karl has spent the night on this big rock of the High Fens).

In the centre of Mützenich you can find – next to the church- The village museum “Uralt Scholl” (= very old school), where you can find out something about the country life in Mützenich.
